In Telangana’s Dandepalli mandal, task force officers arrested four individuals for allegedly engaging in illegal gambling in a forested area. The police confiscated Rs 53,460, along with four mobile phones and three motorcycles.
According to the Ramagundam task force police, who acted on a tip-off, Pettem Thirupathi and Md Kaleem, both from Luxettipet town, along with Chindam Sathish from Dandepalli mandal and Gandham Narayanam from Jannaram, were caught red-handed. The suspects were turned over to Dandepalli police for further investigation. Two additional suspects, Patharaveni Lachanna from Luxettipet mandal and Nelki Ravinder from Dandepalli mandal, remain at large.
Illegal Gambling Scandals
This is the latest in a series of illegal gambling busts in the region. Earlier in October, eleven people, including former MPP Gaddam Srinivas, were arrested in Luxettipet town on similar charges. Acting on another tip-off, the task force police apprehended the group, which consisted of individuals from various parts of Luxettipet and Dandepalli mandals.
In September, the Ramagundam Commissionerate Task Force also arrested 10 people, including eight traders, for online casinos in the Market area, seizing Rs 52,320. The group included local traders, a coal miner, and a retired employee of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), a government-owned coal mining company.
These incidents come amidst a growing decline in law and order in Mancherial district. The area has seen an increase in violent clashes between gangs and individuals, sparked by issues such as property disputes, personal grudges, loan recoveries, and altercations during religious events and idol processions.
